As former elected officials (Vickie served 10 years on the local Board of Education; Robert served as a founding City Councilman for 6 years), we discovered the starling numbers of students that were impacted by homelessness; transitional housing and food insecurities.
The Turner Collaborative was birthed/formed/established out of the need to address these issues. These families are in desperate need of community support that will alleviate these challenges. Students would be able to continue their education, without interruption as they prepare for post-secondary opportunities (college and career readiness).
Given the economic crisis, it’s imperative to provide guidance and assistance that will render successful matriculating for students into the workplace, military or college.
