As Executive Director of the Turner Collaborative Family Foundation, Vickie B. Turner brings more than three decades of experience in education, leadership, governance, and community service to the Foundation’s mission of empowering students and families facing economic challenges. Her lifelong commitment to expanding educational opportunities and strengthening communities serves as the driving force behind the Foundation’s work to remove barriers, inspire hope, and create pathways to long-term success.

Vickie holds a Master of Education in Post-Secondary Education, a Bachelor of Science in Child and Family Counseling, and has completed executive coursework through the Harvard Kennedy School of Executive Education. Her professional journey began in 1991 as a kindergarten teacher and evolved through a variety of leadership roles in education, ultimately leading her to serve as Headmaster of a successful K–9 private school that she co-founded and operated alongside her husband, Robert.

In 2014, Vickie was elected to the DeKalb County Board of Education, where she served with distinction for a decade, including leadership roles as Vice Chair and Chairwoman. During her tenure, she helped oversee one of Georgia’s largest school districts, serving approximately 94,000 students and more than 14,500 employees while providing governance, policy oversight, and fiscal stewardship of a multi-billion-dollar budget. Her leadership focused on ensuring equitable educational opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds, including those from underserved communities.

A respected leader and advocate, Vickie has been recognized with numerous honors throughout her career, including the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award, the Hidden Figures Award, the My Sister’s Keeper Living Legend Award, and the National Women Empowerment Women in Ministry Leadership Award. She is also a proud graduate of Leadership DeKalb and has received multiple proclamations and recognitions from local, state, and federal leaders for her service and impact.

Today, through the Turner Collaborative Family Foundation, Vickie continues her lifelong dedication to helping students and families thrive by connecting resources, building partnerships, and creating opportunities that lead to brighter futures.

Vickie and her husband, Robert, are proud parents of three adult children and devoted grandparents to six cherished grandchildren.
